We employ a vendor and supplier screen along with a code of conduct to ensure our suppliers have a visible commitment to diversity and inclusion, and that their policies and practices are transparent.

We make an annual contribution to the American Civil Liberties Union.
We are active members of Independent Sector.
We believe that everyone should use their constitutionally granted rights, like the right to vote. Employees are strongly encouraged to exercise that right and responsibility in local, state and national elections and are given time off to do so.
Burnam | Gray employees make an annual commitment to civic engagement. Some of the activities Burnam | Gray employees have participated in include: serving as a local election official, writing letters encouraging people to vote, helping people register to vote, calling elected officials regarding state and federal issues, and driving people to the polls.

We recognize it is our responsibility as a good corporate citizen to help enrich our surrounding communities. We encourage our employees to become involved in their communities, and we provide up to 26 hours, per employee, per year for board service and other pro-bono volunteer work during normal business hours. Our team spent countless more hours during the evening and weekend hours volunteering.
In total, the three Burnam | Gray team members contributed more than 230 hours on pro-bono and volunteer work in 2019.
In 2019, Burnam | Gray contributed nearly $3,000 to local nonprofits. In order to make a greater impact, the company has committed to increase that giving in 2020 to $5,000. In 2021, we will launch a charitable giving framework that will increase our charitable giving to 20% of our net profits - while committing 10% of our charitable giving to organizations led by people of color, historically black colleges, organizations that address race and equity, and nonprofits that address injustices in the prison system.

Burnam | Gray is working toward a net zero carbon emissions through employee policies that 1) provide reimbursement for public transit and bike purchases; 2) provide guidance around energy use, recycling, organics, and the proper disposal of harmful products; and 3) the measuring of carbon emissions and the future purchasing of carbon offsets. Burnam | Gray commits to purchasing products and supplies from certified, environmentally friendly companies that support workers’ rights and honor and respect the dignity of communities. Here are some of the labels we consider when making purchasing decisions.
Burnam | Gray is committed to working with suppliers and service providers who have transparent supply chains, and are minority and women-owned. To solidify this commitment, we have created and will begin implementing a supplier screening process.

In the very early stages of our business, Burnam | Gray set our sights on becoming a Certified B Corporation®. What is that you ask? Certified B Corporations® are businesses across the world that have met the highest standards for socially responsible companies. It is a third party certification of for-profit businesses that assesses the overall positive impact of the company. It is a rigorous process that looks at an organization’s social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, and it is reassessed every three years.

As a social sector and nonprofit consulting firm, we are dedicated to transforming communities and the organizations serving them. Community, giving, and producing positive measurable impact are at the very core of our business. This is WHO we are. It is who we have been all along.
